All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian William (Bill) Aaron Ray Services: Fri., Oct. 19, 2:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for William (Bill) Aaron Ray, 84, who passed away October 16, 2001. Bill was born on December 15, 1916, in Indiahoma, Oklahoma, and resided in Kern County for 70 years. He worked as a production operator with Chevron Oil for 36 years. Bill was a member of the Eagles Aerie #93, The Odd Fellows, VFW and the Chevron Retirees Association. He served in the Army during WWII with the 29th Army Engineers and proudly attended their reunions over the past 56 years. Bill and Geneva loved to spend the summer fishing in Crescent City and winter in Yuma, Arizona escaping the Bakersfield fog. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Edna Ray; sister, Louise Campbell and brother, Homer Ray. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Geneva Whitecotton Ray of Bakersfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Herb Hallock of Grants Pass, Oregon and Anita and Don Smithson of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Jay Hamlyn, Bonnie Niccum, and Brian Hamlyn of Washington; sisters, Rachel Doren and Henri Harless of Bakersfield; brother, Bob Ray of Santa Rosa and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank Drs. Mallardi Reddy, Syed Alam and Muhammad Ashraf and the staff of the Bakersfield Heart Hospital for their compassion and care.
