All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunset Memorial Gardens--Lawton OK Becker Funeral Home Obit 22 Oct 2005 Jane Roberts Age 74, Lawton - Services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday at Peace Church, South of Indiahoma, with her husband James Roberts, her son James Roberts, Jr., Pastors, and her son in-law Wayne Schoonover, Pastor of Liberty Heights Chapel, officiating. Mrs. Roberts died Saturday in a local hospital. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. FAMILY WILL GREET FRIENDS FROM 6PM TO 8PM MONDAY EVENING AT THE FUNERAL HOME. Jane was born July 28, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas to Ike T. and Effie Mae (Liddell) Sidebottom. She was raised in Fort Worth, graduating from Paschal High School in 1949. On July 28, 1949 she married James Roberts of Snyder, Oklahoma. They lived in or around Fort Worth for the next five years and were blessed with three children, a son and two daughters. The family moved to Lawton in 1954. After the children were in school, Jane attended Cameron University, received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma College for Women, later she received a M.S. degree in Counseling from Southwestern State University. She taught first grade and kindergarten at Swinney Elementary School, was a counselor at Eisenhower Junior High School, and was retired from Lawton Public Schools in 1986. During this time she was active in several professional organizations. In 1988 she and her husband moved to a rural residence Southwest of Cache, and continued a ministry which had begun at Peace Church in 1961. She was the Pianist, Sunday school teacher, and taught special evening Bible classes for children at the church. She and her husband returned to live in Lawton in 2004. She was also active in work for the Salvation Army. Survivors include: her husband James Roberts of the home, 2 Daughters-Jane Ann Malakosky and her husband Kerry of Lawton, and Judy Schoonover and her husband Wayne of Lawton, OK. Son-Jim Roberts and his wife Joan of Lawton, OK, 6 Grandchildren-Jennifer Adams and her husband Jason, James Roberts III and his wife Caroline, Caleb Schoonover and his wife Abby, Billie Jean Fox and her husband Tom, Amanda Milburn and her husband Darin and Rachel Foster and her husband Ross. 3 Great Grandchildren-Nick Milburn, Mallory Milburn and Kaitlyn Schoonover. 2 Sisters-Doris Rightmer of Lawton, OK and Sue Payton of Galveston, TX, and a Sister In-Law-Betty Wood of Houston, TX.
