(John) Recknagel, 81, passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, at Fifth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Cory Davis officiating. Burial was held in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. Born May 12, 1923, to David Recknagel and Iva (Gladys) Bennett, in Lawton, he was a veteran of WWII where he served as a radioman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in the yard, metal detecting and traveling in his fifth wheel. On Nov. 30, 1945, he married Judy Sansom, in Bowie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hester Harrison. Survivors in addition to his wife, Judy, of the home include; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Ron Burton of Marlow and June and Gary Sher of League City, Texas; a brother, Calvin Recknagel of Mission, Texas and a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Macel Bradford of Marlow; two grand-daughters, Deborah Webb of Norman and Susan and husband Gary Johnson; and four great-grandchldren, Erica and Madison Crider and Abi and Zack Johnson.
