'Pete' Ralston HOUSTON -- Funeral for former Lawton resident Marvin L. "Pete" Ralston, 80, Houston, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, Houston. A reception will follow at the church. Mr. Ralston died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003. Arrangements are by Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Houston. He was born March 31, 1923, in Lawton to Grover and Myrtle Ralston. He was a chemical engineering student at the University of Oklahoma when World War II began. He entered the military and served as a lieutenant in Company C of the 409th Infantry Regiment, 103rd Infantry Division, in France. After the war, he finished his degree and joined Gulf Oil Corporation. He moved to Port Arthur, Texas, and married Marjorie Williams in November 1949. He and his family lived in Kuwait, Korea, London, Pittsburgh and Houston. During his 30-year career, he was managing director of Kuwait Oil Company and retired as president of Gulf Geoman in Houston. He was an administrative and spiritual leader at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. He was also chairman of the board of Texas Methodist Retirement Homes and involved in building Alzheimer facilities. Survivors include his wife; two daughters: Lisa Perry and her husband, Marcus; and Nancy Begnaud; two grandchildren: Danielle and Ralston Begnaud; a sister, Rosemary Merritt and her husband Jack Merritt; and many other family members and friends.
