All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Becker Funeral Home 28 Jan 2005 Spann, Beulah Haws Age 100, Lawton, Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Monday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with John Duvall, minister at Gore Boulevard Church of Christ officiating. Mrs. Spann died Friday, January 28, 2005 in a local care center. A committal service will be at 12:00 PM Tuesday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa. She was born May 11, 1904 at Olustee in Greer County, Oklahoma. She attended Victory School and completed high school in Altus. She received a Bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma at Norman. She married Sylvester Earl Spann on February 3, 1937 and lived with him until his death in 1957. She taught elementary education for 50 years at various schools in Jackson and Creek counties until 1958 when she moved to Tulsa and took a position in the Tulsa Public Schools. She taught at both Elliott and Riverside Elementary Schools until she retired in 1969. She had been a member of various Church of Christ congregations in Tulsa and Lawton. She was also a lifetime member of Tulsa Retired Teachers Association, Kappa Kappa Iota and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her son, Link Haws Spann, Burke, Virginia, her daughter, Linda Ruth Simpson, Lawton, thirteen grandchildren, Joseph Michael Simpson, Dr. Charles E. Spann, Sylvia Rae Burke, Dr. Joe L. Spann, Dr. Rebecca Spann MacGregor, Lisa Spann Maslow, David Spann, Michael Simpson, Samantha Spann, Laura Estrada, Link H. Spann, Jr., Curt E. Spann, and Wade J. Spann, and fourteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Eula and Marie, and five brothers, Max, Raymond, Hartsell, Link, and Clyde. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5700 N.
