Sill, OK and passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2006 in Newport Beach, CA. Since his father was an Army officer, he grew up around the country, finally settling in Berkeley, CA where he went to high school. He attended the University of California at Berkeley on a track and field scholarship graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. He held numerous engineering and management positions at Westinghouse, Aerojet, Rockwell and Boeing. He started his career at Westinghouse working with large electrical motors on Navy ships, Shasta and Hoover Dam, and at Moffett Field. He began his aerospace career when he moved to Southern California, initially designing rocket test/launch facilities. He participated in the Saturn, Apollo (to the moon), and many satellite development programs. He met his wife Mildred in Berkeley and they spent 60 happy years together prior to her passing in 2003. Most recently they had lived for many years in Newport Beach. He had many pursuits including Masons, photography, deep sea fishing and raising orchids. He was a member of the Balboa Yacht Club and the Newport Harbor Orchid Society. He is survived by his daughter (Marilyn), his son and daughter-in-law (Dick and Mary Ann), and two grandchildren (Brian and Karen). Services will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar on Thursday, November 9th, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cancer or Alzheimer's fund of your choice.
