All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 13 Mar 2003 Lela Stafford Funeral for Lela Stafford, 83, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Western Hills Church of Christ with Harley Davidson, minister, Western Hills Church of Christ, and Jim Antwine officiating. Mrs. Stafford died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at a Shawnee hospital. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Nocona, Texas, to Guy and Effie Gibson Williams. She was raised in Carnegie and graduated from Carnegie High School. She married Joel "J.C." Stafford on July 30, 1939, in Lawton. She worked at Sears for 19 years in women's apparel. She moved to Tecumseh in 2002 to a retirement center. She was a member of the Sears EX club and Western Hills Church of Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lindsey and Pat Stafford, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Russell Walker, Shawnee; a brother-in law, Bob Stafford, Lawton; a sister-in-law, Helen Stafford, Lawton; and three granddaughters and their husbands:, Sheri R. and Gary Leroux, Watertown, N.Y.; Patti L. and Michael Russo, Boca Raton, Fla.; and Jennifer and Joe Sumpter, Shawnee; and two great-grandsons: Rylan Jacob Russo, Boca Raton; and Shane Austin Sumpter, Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Evelyn Hegner; and a brother, Curtis Williams.
