Highway patrolmen said the truck was traveling too fast for Stokes to make a left-hand turn approaching the bridge. The truck plunged through the side of the steel frame work and down a 30-foot drop to the creek bed, killing Stokes instantly, they said. His skull was crushed. Stokes, whose parents, Mr and Mrs Leo Stokes, live at 3908 N. Prospect avenue, was a driver for the Skelly Oil Company of Tulsa. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leona Stokes and three small children, all of Sterling; and a brother, Raymond E.
