CITY TRUCK DRIVER KILLED AT SHIDLER

Harold Alfred Stokes, 31-year-old truck driver was killed instantly at 
noon Wednesday when the gasoline transport truck which he was driving 
crashed through the Rock Creek bridge, about three miles south of Shidler.

Highway patrolmen said the truck was traveling too fast for Stokes to make 
a left-hand turn approaching the bridge.  The truck plunged through the 
side of the steel frame work and down a 30-foot drop to the creek bed, 
killing Stokes instantly, they said.  His skull was crushed.

Stokes, whose parents, Mr and Mrs Leo Stokes, live at 3908 N. Prospect 
avenue, was a driver for the Skelly Oil Company of Tulsa.  He is survived 
by his wife, Mrs. Leona Stokes and three small children, all of Sterling; 
and a brother, Raymond E. Stokes, of Tulsa.
