All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Post Cemetery--Ft Sill OK Lawton Constitution 6 May 2002 Rance Stambaugh Jr. Graveside service for Rance Stambaugh Jr., 74, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fort Sill Post Cemetery. Mr. Stambaugh Jr. died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at a local hospital. Burial with military honors will be under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Sickey, Ky., to Rance and Vernie Delong Stambaugh. He married Frieda F. Elsner on Dec. 4, 1953 in Babenhausen, Germany. They moved to Lawton in 1962. He was in the Army and served from Oct. 4, 1965, to Oct. 12, 1966, in Vietnam. Other tours of duty include Korea and Indochina. He retired from the Army on June 30, 1973, at Fort Sill. He was awarded numerous medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medals (6th and 7th award), two overseas bars, nine service stripes, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, the Presidential Unit Citation, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea). After his retirement, he was employed by TG&Y and Auto Zone until retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 183 AF and AM. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two brothers: Douglas and Clyde Stambaugh; and two sisters: Audrey Wilkinson and Harvley Burnett.
