Strom OKLAHOMA CITY — Memorial service for former Lawton resident Helen M. Strom, 83, Oklahoma City, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 120 N. Robinson, Oklahoma City. Mrs. Strom died Sunday, April 13, 2003. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Demuth Funeral Home, Oklahoma City. She was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Faxon, to Victor and Elfa Lawson. She grew up in Lawton, and attended the University of California at Berkeley. She graduated from Hill's Business College, Oklahoma City, with a degree in accounting. She married Robert E. Strom on Sept. 16, 1953, in Santa Fe, N.M. She worked as an accountant for Carpet City, and as an auditor of a Big 8 accounting firm in Oklahoma City. She later worked at the Denman Company until she retired. She played the piano for pre-schoolers at Central Presbyterian Church, taught fifth-grade Sunday School, and served with her husband as a junior high and senior high youth leader. She played tennis in the Missouri Valley Tournaments and was ranked in the top 20 in her age group. She and her husband were charter members of Woodlake Racquet Club. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra Kay and Steve Cullinan, Laguna Nigiel, Calif.; Jill and Jeff Lipow, Los Angeles; and Robin and Jerry Kite, Oklahoma City; four granddaughters: Amanda and Kathleen Cullinan, Laguna Nigiel; and Hanna and Amanda Lipow, Los Angeles; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gerald and Vernetta Lawson, Los Angeles; and Cecil and Martha Lou Lawson, Lawton; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Kenneth Youngblood, Lawton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her father and mother; a brother, Jack Lawson; and a sister, Beatrice Martin.
