Nick Soncksen, 68, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Adam Lamle, pastor, Victory Fellowship, Cache, officiating. Sgt. Soncksen died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery. He was born Jan. 28, 1935, at Culbertson, Neb., to Julius and Hertha Burk Soncksen. He grew up in Culbertson and joined the military after high school. He married Erna Kristen on Nov. 11, 1954, at Bad Hauneim, Germany. He served in Korea and Vietnam, receiving many medals and awards. He retired at Fort Riley, Kan., after 22½ years and moved to Lawton in 1974. He worked in civil service and retired with 20 years of service. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Erna, of the home; two sons: Raymond Soncksen and his wife, Monica, Mansfield, Texas; and Robert Soncksen and his wife, Tracy, Lawton; a daughter, Karen Baker and her husband Jim, Lawton; and four grandchildren: Melissa, Christopher, Brian and Mitchell.
