Smith Funeral for Dow D. Smith, 79, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth E. Hayes, retired Baptist pastor, Lawton, officiating. Mr. Smith died Monday, June, 17, 2002, at his home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born July 30, 1922, in Cyril. He married Faye Marie Maxwell on March 7, 1943, in Lawton. He worked for and managed the Moore Western Hat Company for 30 years. He worked as a Comanche County deputy assessor for 15 years and part-time at Singleton Realty for five years. He was a member of the Lawton Rangers, the Odd Fellows, the Square Toppers Square Dance Club and the Wichita Mountains Horse Show Association. He was a charter member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Debbie Smith, Mead; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Sam Watts, Rattan; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Clara Day, Lawton; and Stella Turnbull and Hilda and Benson Turnbull, all of Porter Hill; a sister-in- law, Sylvia Smith, Lawton; three grandsons: Chris Smith and his wife, Kathy, Greenville, Texas; Casey Smith, stationed with the Air Force in Little Rock, Ark.; and Colby Watts, Rattan; two granddaughters: Darby Ann Smith, McKinney, Texas; her fiance, Jay Bryant, Durant; and Danielle Watts, Rattan; and a great-grandson, Jacob Smith, Greenville, Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Memorial contributions may be made to Tomlinson Rehab Center at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
