All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 4 Dec 2002 Velta Kate Collier Server JOPLIN, Mo. - Funeral Mass for former Lawton resident Velta Kate Collier Server, 95, Joplin, Mo., will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Viator's Catholic Church, Las Vegas. A rosary will be said at 2 p.m. Monday at Palm Mortuary Eastern, Eastern Las Vegas. Mrs. Server died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Joplin. She was born Dec. 2, 1906, at Fort Cobb, Indian Territory, to Thomas H. and Cora B. Thomas Collier. She married Everett Server on Nov. 28, 1925, in Lawton. He died in 1977. The family moved to San Jose, Calif., in 1948 and lived there for nine years. They then moved to Las Vegas and lived there until 1977. She worked at the El Portal Luggage Shop in Las Vegas for many years. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Las Vegas; the St. Vincent de Paul Society; the Marian Club; and other Catholic organizations. After her husband's death, she lived in San Jose and Aptos, Calif.; until she was in her early 90s. Afterward, she divided her time between the homes of her son in Lawton and her daughter in Joplin. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Tom and Gwen Server, Lawton; and Deon Epperson, Las Vegas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary and George Datum, Joplin; and Barbara Guardino, San Jose; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Anna Jean Harrouff and Elvera Collier, both of Lawton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Merle; and two sisters, Cecil and Theda.
