Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Colorado. ========= Lawton Constitution 1 Dec 2002 Thompson, Bertha PALMER LAKE, Colo. - Funeral for former Lawton resident Bertha Thompson, 88, Palmer Lake, Colo., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Susie Cashion, pastor, Lawton First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Colorado. She was born April 14, 1914, in Lawton to William and Nellie Griffith Zea. She grew up in the Lawton and Hereford, Texas, areas. She married Oliver W. "Tommy" Thompson on March 16, 1942, in Joplin, Mo. He died July 27, 1989. They owned and operated restaurants. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 82, Rebekah Lodge No. 121 and the Presbyterian Church. She was the Lawton Volunteer of the Year for the American Heart Association in 1983 and the Lawton Community Volunteer of the Year in 1983. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Jon and Joyce Thompson, Pottstown, Pa.; and Tom and Darcie Thompson, Palmer Lake; three daughters: Toni Thompson, Abilene, Texas; Kay Perez, Sand Springs; and Diane Weiland and her husband Mark Weiland, Phoenix; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Comanche County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/comanche/comanche.html
