All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Highland Cemetery--Lawton OK Lawton Constitution 9 May 2002 Robert Lee Thomas Funeral for Robert Lee Thomas, 66, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. D.D. McHenry, pastor, and the Rev. Edgar Franklin officiating. Mr. Thomas died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at a local hospital. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services, Oklahoma City. He was born July 24, 1935, in Navorro County, Texas, to Millie and Alonzo Thomas. He grew up in Malakoff, Texas, where he attended school and played baseball and basketball. He later moved to Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Lawton in 1967, and married Vivian Haliburton on Dec. 18, 1968, in Lawton. He retired after 30 years of work for the City of Lawton Sanitation Department. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Gwendolyn Haliburton, Lawton; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnnie and Bobbie Thomas, Fort Worth; Lonnie and Alice Thomas, Houston, Texas; and Herbert and Dell Thomas, Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jo H. and Levi Stelle, Fort Worth; two sisters-in-law: Josephine and Vardine Thomas; five grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
