Mrs. Troop died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at her home. ========= Lawton Constitution 13 Nov 2003 Lydia Landis Troop Funeral for Lydia Landis Troop, 86, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Chapel First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Willoughby, associate pastor, officiating. Mrs. Troop died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at her home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker Funeral Home. She was born Dec. 15, 1916 in Hobbs, N.M., to Harvey and Lois Petty Landis. She worked in Stillwater for civil service before moving to St. Louis. She then moved to Fort Sill, where she was the contracting officer for the DIO/Quartermaster. She retired after 34 years from civil service. She married Dr. Howard E. Troop in Walters on March 19, 1948. He died Sept. 22, 1990. She was a member of Lawton First Baptist Church, and was past district president for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Slagle and Roy, Elgin; two grandchildren: Benjamin and Jacob Slagle, both of Elgin; three brothers: Kenneth Landis and his wife, Marcella, Duncan; Thomas Landis Sr., Walters; and Bill Landis and his wife, Marilyn, Duncan; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois Berlene; and two brothers: Archie Landis and Harvey Landis Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 NW 9th, Miami 33136, or to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 501 SW B, Lawton 73501.
