Trent, 68, died Monday, March 11, 2002, in Sandia Park, N.M. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Carey Baptist Church in Carey with Bill Mayes, minister of Childress Church of Christ, and Dr. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Carey Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Trent was born June 3, 1933, in Carey. He died at his home in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. He was a member of Childress Church of Christ and Netherwood Church of Christ in Albuquerque, N.M. He and his wife were married 47 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Trent. Survivors include his wife, Gail; his mother, Exa Mae Trent of Lawton, Okla.; three daughters, Molly Smith and husband, Tony, of Albuquerque, Vinita Sinclair and husband, Ed, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Peggy Stewart and husband, Tom, of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Jay Trent and wife, Tammy, of San Diego and Joe Trent and wife, Rhonda, of Lubbock; a sister, Ann Hill of Lawton; a brother, Vernon Trent of Rockwall; eight grandchildren; and a special cousin, Wayland Trent of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Children's Home of Lubbock. The family will be staying at the John Rhodes Jr. residence in Carey today and Friday.
