All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 1 Dec 2002 Vantine, Odis STERLING - Funeral for Odis Cullen Vantine, 89, Sterling, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sterling First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Powell, pastor, Sterling First Assembly of God, and the Rev. Rick Rogers, pastor, Sterling First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Vantine died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at a local care center. Burial will be at Sterling Cemetery under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. He was born July 2, 1913, in Dexter, Grayson County, Texas, to John Quincy and Emma Joceiphine Belyeu Vantine. He grew up in Seminole and Cotton County. He married Ruby May Winton on June 11, 1938, in Temple. She died Feb. 26, 2002. He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for Comanche County, retiring in 1978. He had been a resident of Sterling since 1958. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law: John and Regina Vantine, Fletcher; Gene and Diane Vantine, Elgin; James Vantine, Sterling; and Ronald and Donna Vantine, Carney; four daughters and three sons-in- law: Jo and Bill Franklin, Hulen; Cora and John Roach, Fletcher; Mary Vantine, Elgin; and Ruby Ann and Leland Brown, Clayton; 24 grandchildren: Karen Thomas, Suzanne Max, Maria Alexander, Donna Baxter, Rhonda McCants, Billy Franklin, Sheila Popp, Steven Roach, Sherri Adams, Paul Vantine, Scott Vantine, Jimmie Vantine, Karla Vantine, David Vantine, Matthew Vantine, Laura Stepp, Chad Brown, Bobbie Rezac, Dona Simpson, Ronnie Vantine, Jennifer Leonard, Heather Conkling, Craig Wensler, and Jeffrey Wensler; 36 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Era Vantine, Duncan; and Jessie Vantine, Walters; a cousin, Elsie Wilkes, Walters; and a lifetime friend, Ida Spinks, Burkburnett, Texas.
