Z. Whitaker, 78, of Lawton, died at 9:30 last Wednesday in a Lawton hospital after an illness of about one year. Services were held at 2 P.M. Friday in the Becker Memorial chapel with Dr. H. Tom Wiles, First Baptist church pastor, officiating. Born August 14, 1880, in Cabool, Mo., Rev. Whitaker received his training at the Mountain Home Baptist college in Arkansas. He had served churches in Arkansas, Missouri and western Oklahoma as pastor or evangelist for more than 50 years. He moved to Lawton in 1935 and had resided here since that time. On March 11, 1902 at Longrun, Mo., he married the former Ollie Stockton, who survives him at the home. Other survivors are five sons, Leonard and Quinton, both of the home; Rev. Robert K. Whitaker, Twitty, Tex.; Emory of Tulsa, and Ernest of California; one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Tice; three half sister, Mrs. Anna Hutchinson, Hamer, Idaho; Mrs. Lizzie Hutchinson, Tulsa and Mrs. Margaret Pellham, Longrun, MO.; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
