All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 22 Dec 2002 Wells, Calvin Funeral for Calvin Wells, 65, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Elmo Baptist Church with the Rev. David Cavitt, pastor, officiating. Mr. Wells died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at a local hospital after a brief illness. Burial with military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home, Inc. He was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Rockwall, Texas, to Willie and Katherine Wells and moved to Lawton at an early age. He graduated from Lawton Douglass School in 1957, where he played football and basketball and was a member of the chorus. He was a three-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was medically retired from the City of Lawton Sanitation Department and a member of St. Elmo Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Katherine Howard, Lawton; and a brother, Billy Wells, Lawton. He was preceded in death by his father.
