Waller Funeral for retired Staff Sgt. Donald E. Waller, 73, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Fort Sill New Post Chapel with Rodger Schwenn, minister, Sullivan Village Church of Christ, officiating. Mr. Waller died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at his home. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Long Beach, Calif., to Elver and Gussie Waller. He married Helga Emma Schmelcher on May 8, 1952, in Manneheim, Germany. She died May 18, 2003. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army, and retired in 1971. He served in Vietnam. His military awards include the Good Conduct Medal Fifth award, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal with 60 device, two Overseas Bars and the Bronze Star. After his retirement, he owned Arway Termite and Pest Control. He retired in 1991. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sharla Waller, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bill Murray, Granite Falls, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Mary Waller, Bakersfield, Calif; a brother-in-law, Heinz Schmelcher, Germany; and two granddaughters: Katy and Kensy Waller, both of Lawton. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Waller; and a brother, Kenneth Waller.
