Sgt. Yow died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at a local hospital. ========= Lawton Constitution 14 Nov 2003 John Wesley Yow Funeral for John Wesley Yow, 70, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Don Barnes, pastor, officiating. Mr. Yow died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. Mr. Yow was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Spies, N.C., to William and Bertie Yow. He was raised in North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Army on Feb. 28, 1974, at Fort Sill as a sergeant first class. He spent two tours in Germany, and received many military awards. He then worked as a welder for civil service at Fort Sill in the DOL Transportation Branch, and transferred to Altus Air Force Base as a welder. He retired after 21 years of civil service. He earned a degree in criminal justice from Cameron University. He married Imogene R. "Jean" Inkanish Chisolm on Nov. 9, 1959, in Anadarko. He was a member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Brenda C. Rivas, Oklahoma City; a son, John Wesley Yow Jr., Dallas; a granddaughter, Brandi Lynn Rivas, Oklahoma City; a brother, Murphy Yow, Sanford, N.C.; and a sister, Pearl Chabot, San Andreas, Calif.
