Herbert Allen Taylor and Sherrill Maureen Hudson met and married in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 1956. He was from Los Angeles; she from Kansas. While in California, Sherry gave birth to a son, Mike, in 1960. Soon thereafter, they moved to Delta Junction, Alaska, where Herb served in the military at Fort Greeley. So beautiful was the scenery, hunting and fishing that the Taylors remained in Alaska for 16 years, where they gave birth to a daughter, Kathie, in 1962. Eventually the Taylors relocated to Lawton, Okla, where they both accepted employment with Goodyear Tire Company. Herb later became an accountant and associate pastor for Grace Christian Fellowship in Lawton. Sherry worked as a legal secretary. They relocated to Chickasha in 1996. Sherry is employed at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in the office of administrative affairs. Herb is retired. Invitations to this anniversary party were marked "Celebrating 50 Valentines," as the Taylors were married on Valentines Day. The event, at the First Assembly of God in Chickasha, was hosted by their children and grandchildren. At the reception, a multimedia show designed by their granddaughter Adrian, was presented. Son Mike is a carpenter, living in Richmond, Va., where he is raising five children: Brian, Amanda, Jesse, Robert and Kerry. Daughter Kathie worked as a retail manager in Lawton before she married Randy Talley of Chickasha in 1989. Today she and Randy are raising four children: Adrian, Hudson, Stalder and Joel. Among many special guests at the event was Dave Collins, whe served as best man for the Taylor wedding 50 years ago, and his wife, Janet. The Collins reside in St. Louis, Mo. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Comanche County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/comanche/comanche.html
