John J. Evans, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Carney was born in Montgomery, Alabama, January 16, 1882. She was married to Alvin Price Carney on June 28, 1897, and to this union eight children were born. With her family she moved to Oklahoma in 1907 and settled on a farm west of Walters, moving into the city 15 years ago. She was converted early in life and united with the New Salem Baptist church soon after moving into Oklahoma. The family recently moved to Lawton. She passed away at Southwestern Hospital at 7:45 o'clock Sunday morning, August 5. She is survived by her husband; one brother, Lee Johnson of Pecan Gap, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Dollie Harrison of Bonham, Texas; and eight children, Mrs. C. A. Law of Lawton, Mrs. C. F. Lovett of Lawton, Mrs. G. L. Davidson of Lawton, Mrs. R. R. Slobig of Polermo, Calif., Mrs. M. K. Huffman of Dallas, Mrs. A. L. Cornforth of Guthrie, A. J. Carney of Walters and E. P. Carney of Lawton. Also 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. (Note: Mable may have been born in Pickens Co.
