Daniel WALTERS — Funeral for Lelon E. Daniel, 90, Walters, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Chapel, Walters, with the Rev. Wade Scott officiating. Mr. Daniel died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Walters Cemetery. He was born June 6, 1912, in DeKalb, Texas, to Luke Medford and Hattie Jones Daniel. He moved from Texas with his family to Southwest Oklahoma as a young child. He worked as a farmer, carpenter, and had retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. He married Jessie Hawkins and they lived in the Walters area for many years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Walters. Survivors include three sons: Donald Daniel and his wife, Claudette, Walters; James Daniel and his wife, Betty, Denison, Texas; and Charles Daniel, Dallas, Texas; two daughters: June Collins, Norman; Janelle Bone, Wichita, Kan.; four sisters: Marie Zachary and Jessie Vardell, both of Walters; Ellen Jones, Sun City, Ariz.; and Doris Hales, Del City; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
