Mr. Houston died Monday, Monday, July 14, 2003. ========= Lawton Constitution 16 July 2003 Fred Houston WALTERS — Funeral for Fred Houston, 93, Walters, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Walters First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Nickel officiating. Mr. Houston died Monday, July 14, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters. He was born Oct. 28, 1909, in Comanche. He grew up in the Comanche and Ringling areas. He married Opal Pearl Lowe on Dec. 25, 1938, at Ringling. They made their home at Ringling until moving to Walters in February 1943. He worked for Joachim’s until 1951, then worked for Carver-Stimpson Corp. He was a machinist and known for his design of a new oil line scrapper and a hydraulic bulldozer to be used on farm tractors. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Freddie Houston, Marlow; three daughters: Barbara Burton, Benton, Ark.; and Linda Cromwell and Mary Ann Albin, both of Walters; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
