All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Walters Cemetery--Walters OK Lawton Constitution 18 Jun 2003 Leon Hart WALTERS - Funeral for Leon Hart, 89, Walters, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walters First Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane Doty officiating. Mr. Hart died Monday, June 16, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters. He was born April 20, 1914, west of Walters to Benjamin Hulan and Mattie Elizabeth Hart. He grew up west of Walters, and served in the Army during World War II. After that, he returned to Walters and was employed by Public Service of Oklahoma for 20 years. He also farmed west of Walters. He was a member of Walters First Baptist Church, the International Order of Odd Fellows, and the American Legion. Survivors include four sons: David Hart, Walters; Billy Duane Martin, Beaumont, Texas; Danny Martin, Galveston, Texas; and Jerry Simmons, Louisville, Ky.; four daughters: Carol Martin Garris and Carrie Martin Ryder, both of Hookerton, N.C.; Wanda Simmons Mull, Jeffersonville, Ind.; and Mary Simmons Smith, Louisville, Ky.; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Bridges Simmons; three brothers: Clay, Cleo, and Mikey Hart; and two grandsons: Don Allen Martin and Douglas Wade Smith.
