All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Memorial Park--Bakersfield CA McWatters, Ray Vernon Services for Ray McWatters will be held Monday, June 25th, 11:00 a.m. at First Nazarene on 2801 Hughes Lane. Pastor Larry Wylie will officiate. Ray McWatters was born in Temple, Oklahoma on June 10,1913 to Benjamin and Frances McWatters. He had four brothers, Earl, Floyd, Glen and Dan; three sisters, Myrtle, Molly and Anna Mae. His family owned and worked a farm in Cotton County, Oklahoma. As a youth he worked long hours in the fields on the farm, but had some amusing stories to tell about hunting trips with his brothers and the family coon dogs. After a year in college, he met Inez Stallings and they married three years later and immediately came to Bakersfield, California and settled to raise their family. They were happily married for forty-two years and raised two daughters, Joan and Sandra. Inez passed away in 1984 and he married Mary Skar in 1985 and they had a loving marriage until his death. He became a born again Christian in the 1940's with the guidance and motivation of Rev. Arthur Anderson and retained a long and loving relationship with his Lord all his life. He owned and operated Howard and Verrell roofing from about 1950 until he retired. Ray was a true sportsman, he greatly enjoyed his frequent hunting trips and his basketball team the Lakers, especially Kobe Bryant. He was a tender and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Inez; all of his brothers and sisters; and his grandson, Tony O'Connor. He is survived by his wife, Mary; and his daughter, Joan and her husband, Bob Warren; his daughter, Sandy and her husband, Larry Webb; grandchildren, Erin and Gerard Alonzo, Jennifer and Herve Blondin, Robert and Staci Warren, Richard Armenta, Wendy and Marcus Phillips, Janelle Webb; great- grandchildren, Nicole Alonza, Anthony Alonzo, Katie Alonza, Sabrina and Kyle Wylie, Michael George, Johnny George, Sean Blondin, Mackenzie Warren, Payton Warren, Tyler Phillips, Austin Phillips and Karalee Webb. He also had many stepchildren and stepgrandchildren, Sandy Warren and Ely Rose, Amber, Hollie Bosse, Colby Warren, Tim Hall and Terry, Marilyn Underwood and Mike, Audrey Halliwell and Bruce, Richard Hall and Shannon and five grandchildren.
