All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 25 Aug 1998 Olvie Aubrey Neff FLOYDADA - Olvie Aubrey "Shorty" Neff, 79, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada with George Johnson, elder of Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church, and Don Martin, elder of Perryton Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery by MooreRose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Neff was born in Cotton County, Okla., and moved to Floyd County in 1923. He attended schools in Lakeview and Fairview communities. He served in the Army from 1942 until 1946 where he was a technical sergeant. During World War II, he was stationed in the Philippines. Mr. Neff was employed by Lighthouse Electric Co-Op from 1949 until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of New Salem Primitive Baptist Church. He married Leona Juanell West in 1946 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Aubrey Lynn Neff of Dalhart; two brothers, W.A. Neff of Amarillo and Ed Neff of Floydada; three sisters, Barbara Hauteen Woody of Lubbock, Pauline Eatherly of Prescott, Ariz., and Lela Fay Capshaw of Fayetteville, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
