All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Temple Cemetery--Temple OK Duncan Banner 2 Oct 2002 Odis Omer Norton WALTERS — Odis Omer Norton, 79, of Temple died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002. Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery. Mr. Norton was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Waldron, Ark., to Thomas Selman and Cora Green Norton. He married Wanda Lee Mapp on March 14, 1946, and they spent most of their married life in the Temple area. He is a veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He also served in Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, and Luson, Philippines. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Mr. Norton worked many years as a farmer, rancher an truck driver. He was last employed by Cotton County, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lee, of the home; two sons, Otis Lee Norton of Lawton and Michael Lynn Norton of Temple; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Wyatt of Temple and Brenda Kay Yarbrough of Duncan; three brothers, Frank Norton of Edmond, his twin brother Otto Norton of Lone Grove, and W.C. Norton of Shawnee; a sister, Evelyn Patrick of Lake Texoma; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilson Loyall; four sisters, Ellen Cecile Fisher, Esther I.
