All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== :Walters Cemetery--Walters OK Lawton Constitution 3 May 2004 Thelma Bernice Spanhanks WALTERS — Funeral for Thelma Bernice Spanhanks, 77, Walters, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Walters, with the Rev. Roger Noland officiating. Mrs. Spanhanks died Friday, April 30, 2004, in Walters. Burial will be at Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters. She was born April 27, 1927, in Boswell. She grew up in Farris and attended school in Atoka. She married Buster Lynn Spanhanks on Feb. 26, 1947, in Paris, Texas. They made their home in Sawyer and Oklahoma City, before moving to Wichita Falls, Texas. They moved to Walters in 1960. She worked as a steam presser at Haggar Slacks for eight years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Walters. Survivors include three daughters: Pat Spanhanks, Janice Bruton and Sheila Spanhanks, all of Walters; a son, Robert Spanhanks, Walters; a sister, Johnnie Meeker, Lane; two sisters-in-law: Ruth Fuller, Sawyer; and Betty Troutman, Anaheim, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Wayne Lynn Spanhanks; a daughter, Betty Spanhanks Parker; six brothers and two sisters.
