All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Mead Cemetery--Mead OK Durant Democrat 15 Nov 2004 Thelma Mae Smith, 82 Services for Thelma Mae Smith, 82, Mead, Oklahoma, who died Friday, November 12, 2004, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma, will be held in the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Mead, Oklahoma, Monday, November 15, 2004, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Charles Loyd will officiate. Thelma was born May 28, 1922, in Walters, Oklahoma, to Johnny William Davis and Minnie Ola (Hampton) Davis. She attended school in Mead. She was married to William Madison Andrew Smith in 1938 in Mead, Oklahoma. Thelma was a homemaker. She was the Mead representative for the Bryan County Star. She was a Charter Member of the Bryan County Homemaker Extension. Thelma was a Charter Member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She loved to garden, quilt and needlepoint. She was greatly loved by everyone and will be missed by all. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James Kenneth, daughter Myrtle Louise Huckabee, brother Homer Davis, and sisters Alice Adams, Francis Petty, Arlene Wilkerson and Marie Wilson. Thelma is survived by sons Robert Smith of Mead, Oklahoma, and Gary Smith of Law Vegas, Nevada; daughters Ethel Steward of Denison, Texas, and Beatrice Carlsen and husband Ronald of Marietta, Georgia; brother Author Davis of Durant, Oklahoma; sister Martha Conder and husband Clarence of Grandbury, Texas; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Interment will be in the Mead Cemetery with Waylon Knowles, Tommy Rowland, Dennis Bowen, Dennis Cullum, Bruce Balentine and Randy Cloyd serving as pallbearers. No family hour is scheduled.
