All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Walters Cemetery--Walters OK Lawton Constitution 5 Apr 2003 Dorothy Louise Townsend WALTERS — Funeral for Dorothy Louise Townsend, 82, Walters, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Walters First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Nickel officiating. Mrs. Townsend died Thursday, April 3, 2003 in Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Grover Ray and Gladys Ellen Wagy Smith. They lived in Wichita Falls, Texas until moving to Walters in 1947. They owned and operated Townsend Grocery in Walters for a few years, and Dorothy worked at Hagar Manufacturing in Temple. She retired after working over 25 years. She and her husband were also in the parakeet business. She was a member of Walters First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Berta Townsend, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Carrie Ellen and Harry Joe Adkins, Duke; five grandchildren: Joe Craig Adkins, Julie Killingsworth, Bob Wills, John Wills, and Jewell Uplinger; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
