All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 28 Jan 2003 Esther Vera Wood TEMPLE — Esther Vera Wood, 94, of Temple died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in Temple. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church west of Addington, with Henry Reid and Siro Castillo officiating. Burial will be in Addington Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home of Temple. Esther was born May 10, 1908, in Nocona, Texas, to Harvey and Ina Miller Griffith. She came to Jefferson County as a young girl. She married James Roy Wood and to this union three children were born. They made their home in Jefferson and Stephens counties. From 1955 to 1984, Mrs. Wood worked as an LPN. In 1968, she moved west of Temple to be near her daughter and for the past two years has made her home at Temple Manor. Survivors include a daughter, Valeria Horschler of Temple; a son, James Roy Wood Jr. of Rock Springs, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
