All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Post Cemetery--Ft Sill OK Lawton Constitution 2 May 2004 Claribel Woods Williams Funeral for Claribel Woods Williams, 95, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church with Mike Shaw, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Williams died Thursday, April 29, 2004, in Houston, Texas. Burial will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. She was born May 4, 1908, in Advance, Ind., to Ross Davis and Mila B. Finchum Woods. She was a 1927 graduate of Walters High School and a 1934 graduate of Southwestern State Teacher's College, Weatherford, and obtained her master's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1941. She married retired Sgt. 1st Class Will M. Williams Sept. 8, 1943, in Walters. He died July 31, 1989. She worked for civil service, but was primarily a school teacher. Her teaching career spanned 41 years. She taught at Cheyenne, Temple and Lawton. She taught at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School for 26 years and retired in 1973. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Adult Six Sunday School Department, Keenagers and VFW Post No. 5263 Ladies Auxiliary and was a charter member of Sunrisers Extension Group. Survivors include a son, Joe W. Williams, Houston; a grandson, Mark D. Williams, Houston; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Creative Living or Trinity Baptist Church.
