Wallace, a longtime resident of Coalinga, died July 31 in Santa Maria. Mrs. Wallace was born June 27, 1921 in Randalette, Okla. She lived in Texas and Washington, DC, where she worked for the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover, before coming to Coalinga in 1944 to be closer to her parents, William and Mabel Brandt, and sister Jo Ann. She joined the Presbyterian Church in 1946, where she remained active during all her Coalinga years. In 1946 she married Richard Wallace and together they raised sons, Keith, Dan, David and Ron. She studied bookkeeping at West Hills College and used those skills and her computer knowledge to work for several employers. She liked to be active and for years hobbied as an amateur radio operator. She participated in that venue during the Cold War and came back to Coalinga to serve as emergency broadcaster following the 1983 earthquake. Mrs. Wallace is survived by sons, Dan, David and Ron; and sister, Jo Ann Lang. A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 11 in Wallace Hall at the Coalinga First Presbyterian Church, 475 N.
