All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Belmont Memorial Park--Fresno CA GLENN NEAL WEST "Buddy" "Daddy" Glenn was born in Walters, Oklahoma on October 28, 1920, the only child of Cynthia Viola Rich West and John Neal West, and was raised in Texas. He was called Home by our Lord Jesus on Monday, April 9, 2007, at age 86. Glenn came to California with his parents in 1939, and settled in Fresno. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from February 1943 to February 1946. Glenn loved airplanes and continued working in this field throughout his life. Glenn started his first aircraft job at Sequoia Air Field in Visalia in 1940. In 1973, Glenn started his own business, West Aircraft Maintenance and Repair in Selma, and in 2002 he retired at the age of 81. On October 10, 1998, in a ceremony held at the Reedley College Aircraft Maintenance teaching hanger, Glenn was awarded the Charles Taylor "Master Mechanic" Award signifying over 50 years in the aircraft business. Glenn was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Fresno #247, as a 32nd Degree Mason, the Scottish Rite, and the Tehran Shrine. Glenn is preceded in death by his father John; and his mother Cynthia. Glenn is survived by Thalia Irene, his loving wife of 55 years; daughters, Glenda V. West and Cynthia L. West; grandsons, Michel-Glenn C. Gerbi, Jake P. Piland and his fiance'e Nicole, and Kurt N. Piland and his wife Jessica; daughter Ava, all of Fresno, California; and his beloved little dog "Shortie". Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 12, 2007, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Graveside Service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held at Belmont Memorial Park on Friday, April 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 1701 19th Ave., San Francisco, CA 91122 or to the donor's favorite charity.
