AND MRS. A.P. CARNEY TO MARK 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Friends of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Carney are invited to call at their home, 319 West Iowa, Walters, Saturday to help observe the 50th anniversary of their wedding. Married June 28, 1897, at Pecan Gap, Texas, where they met, eight children were born to this union, six girls and two boys. The family came to Oklahoma in 1907 and has resided in and near Walters. They resided on a farm until 1935, when they moved to Walters. They also have 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Residing in Lawton are three daughters, Mrs. C. A. Law, Mrs. Gladys Davidson and Mrs. Irene Lovett. Other daughters are Mrs. Minnie Cornforth, Guthrie; Mrs. Mamie Huffman, Dallas, TX; and Mrs. Thelma Slobig, Palermo, CA. The sons are A.J. Carney, Walters; and Eugene (Chick) Carney, Hobbs, N.M. Born Dec. 10, 1868, at Arkadelphis, Ark. Mr. Carney is the only surviving member of his family. Mrs. Carney, the former Miss Mable Johnson, was born Jan. 16, 1882 in Pickens, Ala. Members of the Missionary Baptist Church at Walters, Mr. and Mrs. Carney are actively interested in affairs of their home town and enjoy visiting with neighbors and friends."
