All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Burckhalter FH--Vinita OK Vinita (Ok) Daily Journal, 1961 Ray Boatright Dies Suddenly Heart Attack Fatal to Vinitan This Morning Ray Boatright, 52, died at 11:20 a.m. today in a local hospital following a heart attack. He had become ill during the night and was taken to the hospital at 2 a.m. today where he was given treatment continously, but his death occurred several hours after the attack. He came to Vinita in 1934 from Fort Gibson and operated a clothing store here, with the firm later expanding to cover other business enterprises in association with his brother Ralph Boatright and father, C. H. Boatright. He retired a few years ago from active business in Vinita to engage in the ranching business southeast of Vinita where he was living at the time of his death. He was a student at the former Oklahoma A. and M. College before moving here. During the past 25 years, he was active in the Vinita Lions Club, in various civic affairs and in the Pilgrim Presbyterian church of which he had been a member during his entire residence here. He also was a member of the Vinita American Legion post and was president of the Grand Lake Cattlemen's association at the time of his death. He was born May 15, 1909 in Huntsville, Ark. He served in the Third army quartermaster corps during the African invasion during world war II. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Lillian Boatright of the home on route 3, Vinita; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Schlegel, Orange, Tex., and Mrs. Ardyth Tuepker, Tulsa; one brother, Ralph Boatright, 929 W. Clyde Ave, Vinita; his father, C. H. Boatright, and his step-mother, Mrs. C. H. Boatright, 317 S. Ross St., and two step-sons, Lt. Thomas Bentley Baines, Valadosta, Ga., and Jerry Blanton Baines, Tulsa.
