Words cannot express how much he is loved and missed by his family and friends. Carl was born in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma to Cal and Flossie Fugate. In 1940 Carl's family moved to Corcoran where Carl graduated from Corcoran High School. Carl was a member of the 1950 Valley Championship football team. He married his high school sweetheart Barbara and lived in Corcoran for all but a few years of their 41 year marriage. He retired after 30+ years from Armstrong Tire Company in Hanford, where he was the plant superintendent. Nine years after his wife Barbara passed away, Carl relocated to Lincoln to be closer to his children and their families and he quickly made many friends in the new community while maintaining his private lifestyle. Carl was a loving husband, father, brother and a loyal friend. He was a very quiet, private man who was meticulous to detail. He enjoyed listening to music, working on his computer and spending time at the family cabin in Wilsonia. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who have found comfort knowing he is no longer battling his health. Carl is survived by his daughter, Shirley of Antelope, Calif.; son, Darrell and his wife Claudia of Eagle, Idaho; brother, George Fugate of Corcoran; sisters, Joyce Overstreet of Cutler and Dorothy Steeley of Denair; grandchildren, Carson, Derek, Jessica and Kifer; great- grandchildren, Kaidyn and Cal; many nieces, nephews, close relatives and lifetime friends who will miss him now and forever. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Barbara, parents, Cal and Flossie Fugate, his sister, Norma Corbett and brother, Jim Fugate. Visitation was today from 10 to 12 noon at People's Funeral Chapel in Hanford. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., today at the Corcoran District Cemetery. Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2744 Marconi Ave., Sacramento, CA 94203.
