All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Scott Cemetery--Estella OK The Grove Sun Daily May Arline Lay 1915-2005 VINITA, Okla. - May Arline Lay, 89 year-old, long-time Vinita resident passed away early Sat., Mar. 12 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita. May was born Mar. 19, 1915 in Stockton, Mo., to Ora Lee Achord and Dulcie May (O'Conner) Achord. She was born-again Christian and attended Bunker Hill Baptist Church. May loved her family, her grandchildren, animals, especially horses. She was an avid baker and was known for her sour dough bread. She married Howard Elmore Lay on Nov. 10, 1932 at the Craig County Courthouse, Vinita. He preceded her in death on Mar. 8, 1985. She was preceded in death by her sons Bub Lay, Bill Lay, infant son Howard Elmore Lay, Jr., and grandson David Lay. Brothers and sisters; Janie Lee Achord, John Rollo Achord, Nellie Dean Stup, Kenneth Ray Achord and Jackie Charles Achord. May leaves as survivors her sons and daughter-in-law Jim and Sue Lay, Bunt and Beck Lay and daughter-in-law Diane Lay, all of Vinita. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, six great grand children. Five sisters; Marie Kheeland, Faye Kheeland, Mary Stemberger, Bobbie Hill and Pat Escovedo. One brother, Joe Achord. Special cousin Gene O'Conner and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will gather at Burckhalter Funeral Home on Mon., March 14 from 7 to 8 p.m. to receive friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held Tues., March 15 at 2 p.m. at Bunker Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Henry Haynes officiating. Interment is to follow at Scott Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Lowell Walker, Bryan Lay, Brent Lay, John Clark Lay, Todd Lay and Travis Gladney.
