Prather The Indian Cheiftain Thursday, September 28, 1893 After months of suffering, Daniel F. Prather died at his home in this city, (Vinita) Monday evening after a lingering sickness of more than one hundred days' duration. Young Prather was an exemplary young man and being modest and retiring in his demeanor, he commanded the respect of all and probably hadn't an enemy in the world. He had attended the Seminary at Tahlequah and taken a course of studies at Austin, Texas, and stood high in his classes in both schools.. His illness is a sad blow to his aged parents and unmarried sister as he was their mainstay and the one on whom they expected to lean on in years to come. A short time before his death he professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and signified his willingness to obey the command that sooner or later must come to all. He was received into the Methodist Church and was baptized only a few hours before his death. The family has the sympathy of the community.
