All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Big Cabin Cemetery--Big Cabin OK Vinita (Ok) Daily Journal, Wednesday, July 18, 2001, page 3 Dora Skillman Funeral services for Dora Skillman, 95, of Vinita, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. The Rev. Eugene Kay and Brother Roy Miller will officiate. Burial will follow on the family plot of the Big Cabin Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Skillman was born Nov. 16, 1905 in Pensacola to Phillip Albert "Bert" and Dortha "Dollie" (Clemens) Flock. She died July 17, 2001 at Rosewood Terrace Care Center. She married John Oliver "Skelly" Skillman on June 9, 1933 in Big Cabin and made their home there. She worked briefly during the war but spent most of her time working with her husband training bird dogs. They crossed the Unisted States and Canada training dogs. She had moved to Vinita in the early 1980s. She loved to ride horses, garden and look after her family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Survivors include her two sisters Gladys Carroll and Artha Turner both of Vinita; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 27, 1977; her parents; sister Cora Macon; brothers Tom, Bill and Claude Flock and special nephew Billy Flock. Memorials may be made to the Timberhill Church of Christ or Otterbein United Methodist Church. ========= Vinita (Ok) Daily Journal, Wednesday, July 18, 2001 Skillman Mrs. Dora Skillman, 95 year-old widow of John O. Skillman, resident of Vinita and longtime resident of Big Cabin, passed away Tuesday morning, July 17, 2001 at Rosewood Terrace Care Center. Mrs. Skillman was born on November 16, 1905 in Pensacola, Okla. She was the daughter of Phillip Albert "Bert" and Dortha "Dollie" (Clemens) Flock. She and John Oliver "Skelly" Skillman were united in marriage on July 8, 1933 in Big Cabin and made their home there. She worked briefly during the war and spent most of her time working with her husband, training bird dogs. They crossed the United Staes and Canada training dogs. Mr. Skillman preceded her in death on July 24, 1977. She mad moved to Vinita in the early 1980s. She loved to ride horses, garden and look after her family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sisters, Gladys Carroll and Aretha Turner, both of Vinita and numerous nieces and nephews. her husband, parents, a sister, Cora Macon, three brothers Tom,Bill and Claude Flock and a special nephew, Billy H.Flock, preceded her in death. Funeral services for Mrs. Skillman will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, july 19, 2001 in the chapel of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita with Bro. Roy Miller and Rev. Eugene Kay officiating. Burial will be on the family plot of Big Cabin Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
