Swango Funeral services were incomplete today for Eugene Leland Swango, 47, who supposedly died from a self-inflicted shotgun blast at his home, 306 F street northwest, at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Deputy Sheriff Horace Rider, who with County Attorney Jim Reed and other officers investigated, said Swango apparently shot himself in the head in a fit of despondency. A discharged 12-gauge shotgun was found beside the body. Swango, who was employed at the B.F. Goodrich company's tire manufacturing plant here, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Swango of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Edwards, Kansas City, Kns., and Mrs. John Stevens, North Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Benny Swango, with the U.S. 45th infantry division in Hokkaido, Japan; four brothers, Tom Swango, Rardin, Ill., John Swango, Hindsboro, Ill., Steve Swango, Miami, and Albert Swango, Welch, and two grandchildren. ========= Taken from the Miami News Record - October 30, 1951 Swango Rites Funeral services for Eugene Leland Swango, 47, who was found dead in his home, 306 F street northwest, Saturday, will be conducted at the First Methodist church in Welch at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Russell Martin, pastor of the First Christian church here, will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Joe and Garrett Reynolds, George Weaver, George Pitcher, Opal Myers and Ike Chenoweth. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Brady, Greeley Pitcher, Jim Smith, Bert Davis, J.O. Duvall and Sims Booten.
