Top of the scrapbook page says August 1937 FAMOUS HORSE DIES Roger, five gaited horse of Mrs. S. E. Wallen, died in Vinita Sunday night of old age. He was 36 years old. Roger was one of the best known horses in this section of the country, and back in the days when saddle horses were in vogue, Mrs. Wallen rode him in all of the county fairs and parades as a prize winning entry, and she has many blue ribbons he has won. Roger had lived in Vinita all his life and for more than 15 years had been on the retired list. He was a "famous" horse for his time and was worthy of his own obituary. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Craig County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/craig/craig.html
