All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Kelseyville Cemetery--Kelseyville CA Santa Rosa Press Democrat Published on October 7, 1998 RUBY WRIGHT Ruby Matilda Wright, who was well-known as a cook for many Lake County restaurants, died Saturday at a Lakeport hospital after a sudden illness. She was 80. "People would come from miles around for a slice of her homemade pies," said Barbara Wright, her daughter-in-law. Ruby Wright last worked about 10 years ago at the Bowling Alley Restaurant in Lakeport, and before that had run the kitchens at The Creamery and JJ's. In Kelseyville, she had co-owned and operated the Bridge Cafe and the Brick Cafe at different times. In retirement, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, and "always had a kettle of soup on the stove" of her Kelseyville home, her daughter-in-law said. Born in Vinita, Okla., she had lived in Lake County for 59 years. She is survived by her partner of 40 years, James Cooper, Kelseyville; her sons, James, J.D. and Tom Wright, all of Kelseyville; her daughters, Ema Young of Fort Bragg and Eva Kirkpatrick of Byron; a brother, Leon Turner of Kelseyville; sisters, Ruth Jordan of Reno, Mary Hinson of Colorado and Lou Stilley, Iva Peck and Rose Hudspeth, all of Kelseyville; 16 grandchildren; and 34 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Wright; and a sister, Margie Turner. Inurnment is at Kelseyville Cemetery with arrangements by Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary.
