A 5:30 p.m. candlelight ceremony Feb. 12 in the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City was arranged at which Mr. and Mrs. Wagner reaffirmed their marriage vows spoken 50 years earlier. The Rev. W. B. Wolfe on Feb. 14, 1933. The service included an introductory message from the Wagners' children and grandchildren and a specially selected scripture reading "Lessons of Love" from I Corinthians. The bride followed the wedding tradition of something old, a small New Testament Bible given by the Wagners to their daughter in 1959; something new, a gold locket received as a gift from their daughter-in-law and three grandchildren of El Paso; something borrowed, a garter worn by their daughter in her wedding; and something blue, appearing as blue flowers in a bridal bouquet featuring yellow roses. The bride and bridegroom wore a corsage and boutonnier, respectively, of yellow rosebuds accented with baby's breath and golden trim and ribbon. The couple's children served as best man and matron of honor for the reaffirmation service. Following their service, Mr. and Mrs. Wagner were taken to Dee Jays, a private club and restaurant in Dodge City, where a four-course dinner was served. The couple's children had also reserved for their parents a bridal suite at the Holiday Inn, which had been decorated in a dual Valentine's Day and Golden Anniversary motif. Reading material was provided in the form of hand-written pages, tied together with golden ribbon, listing "50 Reasons for Loving You on Your 50th Wedding Anniversary" presented to them by Judy and David. The Wagners had also been provided with a video cassette as a gift from their grandchildren, Terri, David and Jeffry of El Paso, expressing their congradulations and greetings. A gold bar at the base read "Kenneth and Rosalie, Feb. 14, 1983". Enroute home, the Wagners stopped in Tulsa to visit Mrs. Alice Rust, sister of Mrs. Wagner, who, along with her husband, the late Jimmy Rust, served as attendants at the Wagners' wedding in 1933.
