This is under the auspices of the Sapulpa Symphony Club. A special orchestra will play from 7:30 to 8:00 o'cloock. The Symphony Club has gone to a considerable expense to secure this famous woman. You will be well paid if you attend the lecture. THIS IS PRETTY SOFT Oklahoma City, April 21.--At a meeting of the capitol commission, presided over by Governor Williams, it was decided to henceforth have two superintendents rather than one and the increased cost to the tax payers will be about $22,500.00 Boyd was retained as superintendent of construction and Layton and Smith, architects who were ardent supporters of Governor Williams during the last campaign, were also employed as superintendents, for which they are to receive an additional one and one-half per cent on the one and one-half million dollars to be expended on the new capital, this means an additional $22,500.00 to the architects. SAFETY FIRST MEETING The open meeting of the Safety First movement at the Y. M. C. A. parlors last Friday was largely attended. The following excellent program was given: Vocal Duet--Prof. McGiboney and Miss Virginia Smith. Reading--Miss Christiana Robertson. Talk--Prof. Graves, Principal of Euchee Mission. Violin and Piano Duet--Miss Cecil Downs and Virginia Smith. Talk--Professor Gibbs of Garfield school. Piano Duet--Mary Muchmore and Thelma Carleton. Essay--Safety First--Earl Yocum. Piano and Violin Duet--May Sawyer and Margaret Hennage. Talk--Prof. Brush of Woodlawn school. Piano Solo--Thelma Carleton. Talk--Professor Woodruff of the High School. Reading--Esther Eskin. Piano and Violin Duet--May Sawyer and Margaret Hennage. PURCHASED SCHOOL GROUNDS The school board has bought sixty-eight feet of ground of W. P. Root adjoining the Jefferson school property. This will improve conditions at this school, as the play grounds were too small. NEW COURT HOUSE WALK Workmen replaced the front sidewalk at the court house this week. When the walk was laid it froze and crumbled. It was replaced at the expense of the contractor. TAG DAY A SUCCESS The ladies of the Humane Society did fine with their Tag Day collection. They got $210 for their efforts.
