Earl William Armstrong, 95, of Caldwell, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006 at his home of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with a reception following at the C.V. Peckham Community Center, located adjacent to the chapel. Private burial will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Mr. Armstrong was born Sept. 9, 1911 at Keifer, Oklahoma, the son of Harvey G. Armstrong and Ethel Mae Mason Armstrong. The family moved to Idaho and settled in the Knowlton Heights Community near Marsing when earl was three years old. He had three brothers and two sisters. He attended grade school at Knowlton Heights, graduated from Caldwell High School, and completed two years of study at the College of Idaho. Earl married Loa L. Richardson Dec. 9, 1934 on the Armstrong family farm in the Knowlton Heights Community. Together they farmed and ranched on the Armstrong Homestead at Knowlton Heights until 1960 when they sold the farm and moved into Caldwell. In 1961 Earl and Loa opened a real estate office in Caldwell which they operated until 1986. In Earl´s earlier years he was very active in the valley. He enjoyed his involvement with the Huston Mustangs Riding Club, was a member since the 1940s of the Caldwell Elks Lodge No. 1448, and helped organize and was a member of the Canyon County Sheriff´s Posse. Earl will be remembered by family and friends for his gentle, kind spirit. He has many nieces and nephews who admired and loved their Uncle for his sense of humor patience and generosity that he shared with them throughout his life. Earl is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Loa who died in 1989; sisters, Opal Armstrong Brislawn and Hazel Armstrong Smick; brothers, Paul Armstrong, Roy Armstrong and Harvey Armstrong. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Caldwell Lodge No. 1448 B.P.O.E., 1015 N. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, Idaho 83605, or to Mountain States Tumor Institute, 100 E. Idaho, Boise, Idaho 83712.
