All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Magnolia Memorial Gardens--Bristow OK Friday, August 3, 2007 Alcorn, Betty "Joan" BRISTOW -- Graveside services for Betty "Joan" Alcorn, 71, Bristow, were 10 a.m., today in Magnolia Memorial Gardens. A memorial service was 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Bristow, the Revs. Craig Long and Ben Mosley officiating. Mrs. Alcorn was born May 5, 1936, to Travis and Opal Fuller Aston in Bristow. She died July 31, 2007, at Bristow. Mrs. Alcorn grew up in the Bristow area, attending school in both Bristow and Depew. In 1955, she graduated from Bristow High School. She worked and retired from JC Penney's. She also worked for the Creek County Election Board, was involved with Meals on Wheels, and was a mentor at Edison Elementary. Mrs. Alcorn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bristow, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a choir member and involved in the music ministry program at the nursing home and delivered videos to home-bound church members. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She married Sonny Alcorn Dec. 8, 1955, at her parents' home in Bristow. Survivors include her husband, Sonny Alcorn of Bristow; two sons, Darrell Alcorn and his wife, Ranay and Bruce Alcorn and his wife, Dava, all of Bristow; a daughter, Luann Davis and her husband, Tim, Bristow; a sister, Gloria Marshall, Ada; a brother, Travis W. Aston Jr., Bristow; eight grandchildren, Brandi Gifford and her husband, Toby, Dusty, Haley, and McKale Davis, Brett and Whitney Alcorn, and Kady and Kyle Alcorn; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Blake Gifford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Opal Aston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Children's Fund, PO Box 717, Bristow, OK 74010.
